Getting the best deal on concert tickets in this economy
By Greg Cullen of Preferred Seating Inc
Concert tickets can be an expensive entertainment choice but there are ways to save big bucks and enjoy some of the best seats. Today’s economy and the internet have changed the way concert tickets are sold now. There are fan clubs, presales, resellers, scalpers, and thousands of websites to buy them from and it’s hard to tell sometimes who is legit and who isn’t. So, you may want to start with making sure the company you do buy from belongs to a reputable organization like the Better Business Bureau. You may have noticed if you have done a search on the web for tickets, most of the ticket selling websites seem to have the same inventory, just at different prices. That is because there are a few places ticket brokers and sellers upload their tickets to, and their tickets are marked up anywhere from 15% to over 50%. If you could find the original seller on the web for the tickets you are looking at, you would save that extra markup. But many sellers’ websites cannot be found on the web due to the heavy competition in the ticket industry. Find a few companies that don’t have hidden service fees, they are more likely to have better prices, and you can compare prices easier. Compare prices for the same exact seats to determine the best price. Now take a look at the number of tickets and the prices. Are there a lot of tickets? Are the prices high or low? And did the show recently go on sale or is it coming up soon? Generally, ticket prices go down as the date of the event draws closer and quite often some of the best seats in the house are what are left over. But that is determined in a large part by the number of tickets available for sale. If a show is soon and very few seats are available, the prices may not change much. But if there are a large number of tickets, especially in the area you are interested in, then sit back and watch the prices drop as the show gets closer. You do want to pay attention to the fact that the tickets may have to be sent by overnight Federal Express, and you must purchase the tickets in time to have them sent to you. Many of the newer tickets can be emailed, saving time and money so check to see if there is any indication of that to factor into the price and time you have to get the tickets. This economy has hit the entertainment industry very hard and concert tickets are a luxury for many, so save a few bucks by spending a little more research time, and get the seat you want for the price you’re looking to spend. |
